Christensen Commits to Emmaus Women's Cross Country

August (Auggie) Christensen of Dubuque, IA has signed her letter of intent to continue her cross country career at Emmaus Bible College. With her signing, Auggie becomes the first member of the 2024 women's XC signing class.

"We are so excited to add Auggie to our roster for 2024!" stated head coach Jeremiah Gerardy "I first met Auggie when she was a member of the Fast Kidz summer running club here in Dubuque when I was coaching for the club a couple of years ago. I reconnected with Auggie this past cross country season where it became clear that her strong faith, joyful spirit, and heart of gratitude would make her a wonderful fit here at Emmaus. She is very active in her church, regularly helps with the special needs students at her school, and is also passionate about her community Bible Club. As a coach, it has been so amazing seeing her interact with the team when she has visited campus, immediately seeing the friendships being built."

On selecting Emmaus, Christensen shared "Cross country has always been a passion of mine - hard work, challenging my body, and surprising myself. Now that I'll be running for Emmaus, I will be able to grow in Christ-centered relationships with my teammates and develop lifelong friendships where I can talk about God as much as I please without getting funny looks. I know that being on a team with other Christ followers will only strengthen me. And who knows where my college seasons will take me - through Him, all things are possible."

Coach Gerardy added "We are so excited to see the immediate impact that Auggie will make to our women's cross country team. In high school, she ran for Dubuque Senior, one of the top programs in the state, and this past season she was awarded as one of the team's most improved runners highlighted by a big new PR of 21:50. I believe as a recipient of this award she clearly demonstrates the commitment and consistency that we look for in our runners. We are looking forward to working with her, and seeing the impact she makes on and off the course!"

Please join us as we welcome Auggie to the Emmaus Athletics family!
