Women's Cross Country Signs Heeter

Women's Cross Country Signs Heeter

Emmaus University Women's Cross Country is excited to announce the signing of Joy Heeter, a standout runner from Burlington, Wisconsin, as she commits to continue her academic and athletic career at Emmaus.

An upcoming graduate of Burlington High School, Joy plans to study Business Administration at Emmaus. During her high school career, she earned multiple accolades, including MVP honors for the 2024 season and serving as team captain. Her personal record in the 5K stands at 22:10, and she is a four-time varsity letterwinner in cross country and a three-time letterwinner in track and field. She was also named an All-County Honorable Mention in 2023.

Heeter expressed her deep sense of calling and connection to the Emmaus community.

"I'm choosing Emmaus because I feel like it is where God is leading me next. I fell in love with the community the second I stepped foot on campus. I'm so excited to spend my college years surrounded by others who also want to grow in their faith."

She also shared her enthusiasm for what lies ahead:

"I'm looking forward to the culture at Emmaus. Community has played such a pivotal role in my life already and I know that it is vital in becoming who God created me to be. I'm very excited to try new things, step out of my comfort zone, and I can't wait for cross country season."

Beyond athletics, Heeter has been actively involved in her school and church communities, participating in the Studentlife worship team and intern program, multiple mission trips, National Honor Society, and even the ski and snowboard club.

"We are very excited to have Joy join us" wrote Head Coach Jeremiah Gerardy.  "She will fit in very well with the team and is exactly what we look for in a recruit, with the desire to grow athletically, academically, and most importantly spiritually."
